The Taal Volcano is a famous landmark in the Philippines. It has been part of the Filipino culture and eduation for the longest time. The Volcano was also featured in parts of American pop star Katy Perry's music video for 'Roar.'
Not to ruin everything, but what if I tell you that the picture perfect landscape you believe to be Bulkang Taal is not the real bulkang Taal?
Yes! you read it right!
Apparently The Taal Volcano That We Know Isn’t The REAL Taal Volcano. A reddit post revealed that the REAL Taal Volcano that we see in our history textbooks referred as the "Volcano" is a pyroclastic cone formed when Taal Volcano erupted in 1770 and it is called Binitiang malaki.
Binitiang Malaki is the most photographed part of Taal Volcano Island but it is just a small part of the volcano.
The REAL Taal volcano is over & behind Binintiang Malaki.
Well, if this is new to you, you are not alone. Even the postcards available on our bookstores tags Binintiang Malaki as Taal Volcano.
