It looks like the live-action franchise of Mulan is facing yet another dark side of the moon. According to some inside reports, Disney's live-action remake of Mulan is preparing for some extensive reshoots. The project, which was first announced four years ago, has been under a rocky production and has seen its fair share of setbacks over the years.

Disney's upcoming new live-action is set to be a full-scale martial arts epic, which looks to position itself further from its animated classic. The first teaser that was released over the summer received positive feedback, but according to some news, the test screening earlier this year didn't go so well with the viewers.

Throughout the movie's production, several aspects of the film's adaptation have been questioned by a lot of fans. Now, it's not a secret that a phoenix will be replacing Mulan's beloved sidekick Mushu. And while the music from the animated film will be part of the remake, the songs will not be sung by the cast, and the fans weren't exactly thrilled.

The film will be undergoing four months of reshoots starting this month and should last through February. As of now, it is still unknown what the reshoots entail, but according to the reports, it is for significant battle sequences and storyline.

Who knows? We might have Mushu and the rest of the cast sing the songs after all.

Directed by Niki Caro, Mulan will star Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Tzi Ma, Rosalind Chao, Cheng Pei-Pei, Nelson Lee, Chum Ehelepola, Donnie Yen, Jet Li, and Gong Li..The film is still currently scheduled to be released worldwide on March 27, 2020.
