“They” is Now Officially a Singular Pronoun

Using “they” as singular  is now fully acceptable  in scholarly writing and everything!

Earlier this year, Merriam-Webster announced that “they” has been added to the dictionary as a singular pronoun. Now, APA endorses the use of “they” as a singular third-person pronoun in the seventh edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

The official recognition is a win for gender non-conforming and non-binary folks because it is affirmation and support for the community.

The use of the nonbinary “they” and the practice of asking for pronouns shouldn’t be this stereotype thing that only “cool” organizations do. It is basic human decency.

Remembering The Victims Of The Drug War

All Saints Day and All Souls Day are annual reminders for us to remember, honor, and celebrate the dead. It brings death into the context of our daily being and reminds us about how short life is.

But as we reminisce on our fallen loved ones, let us take a moment to think of the victims of the war on drugs whose names and stories should not be forgotten.

They have suffered and died unmercifully under the current regime. Forgetting them would be an unspoken agreement with how things are now that is why we should not.
